Dirty Election Season in the Philippines
66
Philippines 2010 election is fast approaching. Every political candidates are now extensively preparing for it. During this season, you will usually see many candidates into many places you don’t usually see them during ordinary days conducting door-to-door campaigns, going to market places and of course the hand shaking sessions.
As years passed by, there are so many things that I have noticed when the election season in the Philippines is coming, bad and good things.
Dirty Walls and Roads
Commercial roads and beautiful places have been crowded by these campaign materials which causes these places unclean to see. Private property walls have been posted with these kinds of materials even without the owners consent. So just imagine you have painted your wall for it too look nice but then somebody is just making it unclean.
Center Islands in our roads are full of these materials which they have posted, you cannot see the paint anymore.
Many roads and buildings are being beautified, knowing that there are no need for it to be done. They use government’s fund just to gain popularity. Seeing their names in every projects they have made stating “This is a project of bla bla bla”, “Thank You bla bla bla for Making and helping”. See how dirty these people are? Using government’s money for personal interest.
Banners and Posters
When you see these banners, you will think that there is a festival celebration. But the fact is, these are election campaign materials. You will see many different faces in billboards and posters everywhere you go. It is somewhat an eye sore and could disrupt motorist specially in public roads.
Seeing this would somewhat made you think of a crime scene (POLICE LINE DO NOT CROSS). Funny to say what these people have in mind when they place these thing here.
During this season, many politicians are sponsoring many events such as fiestas and many celebrations just to gain popularity. Seeing banner greeting in every road with their faces.
Media
Media have somewhat taken a very big part during this season. Almost all of the advertisement you will see in your television are political ads, sharing all their platforms and programs which in my opinion are almost alike.
Almost all of the news updates contains stories about the election. You can not anymore get the kind of quality and good news you want because they all talking about elections.
Gatherings everywhere and every night with their loudspeakers on. Disturbing the peaceful nights of every people just to convince them.
Great songs even the religious ones are used as their campaign jingles just to promote and convince people to vote for them.
Vote Buying
It is the usual scene here in our place that candidates are buying people just to have their votes. I just cant imagine what do these people have in mind. Such a big disgrace to all the people.
In these cases, we all have the decision. So we must decide what's for the best.

when people become too self involved its like a prom in a political sense they mean well but at heart are they competeing instead cooperateing governments should learn by now community is what makes a nation
Well, the PCOS (not the people?) had spoken! Despite the negatives you cited in this hub, the first Philippine Automated Election joint board of canvassers- the Senate and the House finally proclaimed President Cory's Only Son (PCOS) Benigno Simeon Cojuangco Aquino, III as president-elected by PCOS. No comment. He's my better choice, anyway. I have a blog about Noy for President 2010. Not bad after all the badmouthing and mudslinging. Hope all will be well for our country at least for the next 6 years of his governance. Mabuhay ang Filipino!
the stuff you've presented are gospel truth. the hub is a kind of bible to refer with to know the kind of elections we have in the country. Likewise- it's a good referenced point for effecting positive change. Write more.

Hey borge. I'm hoping and praying that this election will be different but, from what I'm hearing, I don't think it will be any different at all. The moolah is starting to come out for you-know-what. The banners are up (but in fairness there don't seem to be a lot here) and the mudslinging is now being done in earnest. Good luck to all of us this election.
